Why pilates?


Asked what she likes best about Pilates, Joanie Agosti responds: 

“Several things – Its accessibility to people of all ages & fitness levels; the benefit of increased body awareness that has a wonderful side effect of improved posture; and that everything you learn in Pilates applies to everyday life (functional exercise) and every other type of exercise!”

“I’ve been teaching Pilates now for nearly 20 years, and I still have frequent “aha” moments, when I learn something new about how the human body moves.”

As we age, our musculature and balance deteriorate.  Pilates addresses those issues through developing eccentric strength – long, lean musculature – and pelvic & spinal stability.  In Joanie’s opinion, it is the best type of exercise.
